Third studio album, released on August 3, 2018. Announced in May 2016 before the release of 'Birds In the Trap Sing McKnight', and likely went through several redevelopments over the years.
In an interview with DJBooth, producer FKi 1st said that "5% Tint" was started on January 4 or 5, 2018, in the same session that "RIP Screw" was created. It's unclear exactly what was done.
Rough throwaway from 2017. Leaked July 3, 2025.
Whiteboard tracklist shared by Mike Dean after the release of the album. 01. STARGAZING 02. CAROUSEL 03. SICKO MODE 04. RIP SCREW 05. STOP TRYING TO BE GOD 06. NO BYSTANDERS 07. SKELETONS 08. DON'T WANNA WAKE UP 09. 5% TINT 10. NC-17 11. ASTROTHUNDER 12. YOSEMITE 13. CAN'T SAY 15. BUTTERFLY EFFECT 16. HOUSTONFORNICATION 17. COFFEE BEAN 18. [Blank] 14. WHO WHAT No differences, other than "WAKE UP" being titled "DON'T WANNA WAKE UP". Reveals that "WHO? WHAT?" was a last-minute addition, though it was already known to be the last song recorded for the album, per the Complex cover. It also appears that there may have been a song at track 17 (now 18 after the inclusion of "WHO? WHAT?") that was scrapped very late on, as one of the columns has a check mark. This song could possibly be "Watch" as it would fit as an outro, but the lack of check marks suggest that the song didn't get very far in the mixing / mastering stage, while "Watch" had already received the full Mike Dean treatment.
Final instrumental. Leaked sometime before June 18, 2020.
Original version released on August 3, 2018. Track 1 from 'ASTROWORLD'. Features a popping sound in the instrumental; accidentally caused by the melody loop, but Mike Dean said it was left in intentionally.
Early version that features completely different production and rough reference vocals. Possibly the production that was planned to be used before John Mayer added his contributions a week before the release of the album, but not known for certain. Leaked September 23, 2019. Not an edit.
OG Filename [?]: TS - Astrothunder Early version quite close to the final, sold on The Source. Has a slightly different instrumental and an extra verse, with a mix of finished lyrics and mumble throughout. Leaked September 6, 2021.
Recorded at some point during or after Day 4 of the Hawaii sessions. First heard in the 'Look Mom I Can Fly' documentary; another LQ snippet later surfaced. Unclear if Don is featured on this version.
In an interview with The FADER, Mike Dean stated that "5% Tint" was basically finished before he added the outro, which was his first production contribution to the album.
Used to create a fake open-verse demo in 2019.
Rough throwaway from 2017. Leaked July 3, 2025.
Updated mix from August 11, 2018. Track 1 from 'ASTROWORLD'. The popping sound was made quieter.
OG Filename: 8.GGG (OPEN V2) First previewed in January 2017 by French Montana on Snapchat; teased again in early 2018 and was later track 8 on an early version of 'MONTANA'. Features a verse from French with Blac Youngsta adlibs, and an open verse. Leaked December 10, 2023.
OG Filename: 01 Travis Scott BSN - BOMB - HOOKS ONLY - gbr - 10.23.16 Open-verse throwaway dated October 23, 2016. First heard in a leaked snippet that faded into a slowed-down snippet of "Easy". Leaked in full on March 29, 2018. OG filename referred to it as "BOMB".
First song previewed by Travis after the release of 'Birds'. Played on Snapchat on October 26, 2016.
Early version, titled "Thru My Window", that is missing a verse according to a scene from 'Look Mom I Can Fly'.
Released on August 3, 2018. Track 2 from 'ASTROWORLD'. Features an intro from Big Tuck, interpolated from "Not a Stain on Me". Samples Beastie Boys' "The New Style".
OG Filename: 777 - GREEN AND PURPLE Final instrumental. Leaked January 18, 2023.
Near-complete version. Acapella leaked June 28, 2024. Has extra autotune on 21's verse, and might be missing the final chorus (unclear if this is intentional or just missing from the acapella).
Partial OG Filename: INMYHEAD0330 Throwaway that was cut from the 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse' OST, possibly due to how explicit it is. This version features more developed production and more vocals compared to previous versions. Travis's first verse is unfinished, but the song is otherwise complete; it's likely that the verse was left in as a placeholder, as his second verse uses the same flow and is clearly based on it. Seemingly dated March 30, 2018. Leaked August 9, 2019.
